How can gold be destroyed?


Gold is a Noble precious metal and many people believe it is indestructible, however, this is NOT the case.
Gold can be vapourised into a gas, by superheating with a plasma electrode, but the cost to do this procedure costs more than the gold is worth.
Gold alloys can be dissolved by using aqua regia, a solution of nitric and hydrochloric acid, but this doesn't destroy the gold, it just refines the gold to its highest purity (AU).

Does vinegar hurt gold?


Gold is a stable metal and does not react with oxygen corroding. Because it is stable, it will not change colours when exposed to vinegar over a short period, long term ( a few weeks) the vinegar will disolve the alloys of copper and silver and turn it black. 6/1/2021
